The Gothic roof type is a round roof barn with the roof truss coming to a point at the top, which is known as a Gothic or pointed arch. The popularity of the round roof dates from the 1920s and is even more efficient than the English and Dutch gambrel roof in providing loft storage space (Allen Noble and Richard Cleek, The Old Barn Book).
Two listed barns in Spokane County possess the lofty Gothic roof type, the Victor Hyslop Barn and the Tomlinson Barn, both of which were built in the late 1920s.
