Lidgerwood Parks

There is a great public responsibility resting upon the metropolitan municipality in providing adequate means for recreation and the health of its citizens. White, "Spokane Needs City Planning to Make it a Real Big City" in Spokesman-Review, 1919

Olmsted described these two parks as nearly level and pine-clad and advised the Park Board to plant deciduous trees, as well as other foliage to create a more varied landscape. Although the area of these parks was too small for drives or playfields, Olmsted suggested filling the area with settees and swings for the enjoyment of visitors.
