Statement of Significance

The Sherwood Addition to the City of Spokane was platted in 1889, situated on the high Terrace above the Spokane River, between "A" Street on the east and Summit Boulevard on the west. The Sherwood Addition was one of the real estate projects promoted by John Sherwood, a Harvard graduate who became one of Spokane's wealthiest and influential citizens.

The Lyons/Norman House was completed in 1910 at a cost of $7,500.00. It was designed by the Ballard Plannery. This company was established by architect William Ballard.
