| STATEMENT
OF SIGNIFICANCE |
| Built in 1900 and designed by prominent Spokane
architect Albert Held, the Reid House is one of the oldest and best preserved homes in Browne's Addition.
The house has at different times been home to four of Spokane's most prominent families: early pioneer banker Aaron Kuhn and his wife Leah; noted physician and surgeon Dr. Peter Reid and his wife Jean; and Dr. Robert Reid, Jean and Peter's son. The Reid House is a landmark example of the Craftsman
style, with Tudor Revival influence. The house served as a single-family residence for 97 years. The Reid House is listed on the Spokane Register of Historic Places and serves as an
event house catering to weddings, meetings, reunions, and conventions. |
