| STATEMENT
OF SIGNIFICANCE |
| This building was designed for saloon
keeper James C. Holmes by architect Isaac J. Galbraith. Holmes used the main floor as a store until 1907, when he converted
it to a saloon; it continued to serve in this capacity until Prohibition in 1915. The second and third stories were used as apartments. Since the time this building was built, it has housed a tavern and been used as apartments. Today the main level houses a Youth Ministry, while the remainder of the building is undergoing
rehabilitation. |
