| STATEMENT
OF SIGNIFICANCE |
| The Finch Memorial Nurse's Home was built in 1929 with a trust fund established by mining
magnate John A. Finch. It was designed by one of Spokane's most
prolific and respected firms of architects, Whitehouse & Price and served as a home for the nurses of nearby St. Luke's Hospital, and the St. Luke's Nursing School.
High demand for
nurses during times of war necessitated large nurse training programs.
Finch Hall was one of three such institutions established in Spokane, and is the last
remnant of the diploma nursing schools in the area. |
