STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE

The Currie House is an exceptional example of Queen Anne architecture.  It was constructed in 1889, and was designed by master Spokane architect William J. Carpenter.  The house was built for mining entrepreneur and city councilman John A. Currie, and was later home to Spokane mining broker John L. Ford and his family for 25 years.  The Currie House was one of the first homes built in north Spokane and demonstrates early development and settlement of the area.
