History:

This home was built in 1909 for William H. Stanley, president and treasurer of the Spokane Canning Company and assistant manager of Kelley Clarke, and his wife Mabel. Stanley came to Spokane from New York as a grocery broker in 1903 and organized the Canning Company in 1906. In addition to the Canning Company and Kelley Clarke, Stanley was president of the Stanley Investment Company and director of the Fidelity National Bank. The Stanley house sold in 1920 to Albion B. and Virginia L. Rogers. Rogers was the vice-president of the Spokane Paper & Stationary Company on W. Havermale, owned by president and relative Anson F. Rogers. Albion and Virginia owned the home through the late 1950s. 

Architectural Description:

 

The Stanley house is a one-and-a-half story side-gable brick Arts & Crafts style home. The home is characterized by two prominent front gable dormers on the front (north) facade connected by a shed-roof dormer. The home additionally features a full-width under-the-roof front porch supported by brick pillars and multi-pane wood sash windows.
