History:
Built in 1945, the Lindsey Hall Nursing Home was
utilized as a home for nurses working at St. Lukes Hospital and St.
Luke's Nursing School across
the street on N. Summit Boulevard. The building served as housing for nurses until the Union Gospel Mission Ministries of
Spokane purchased the property in 1971 for use as a transient home
for women. Renamed the Anna
Ogden Hall, the building is an outreach for women and children,
able to house nearly eighty-five persons. Each year, the shelter
houses over 500 women and children in thirty-three guest rooms.

Architectural
Description:
This
two-and-a-half-story Neo-Classical facility has a standing seam
metal roof, poured concrete foundation, and brick cladding. The
front (south) façade features a full-façade, under-the-roof front
porch supported by four sets of paired columns. Wrought iron hand
rails and balustrades flank the poured concrete steps that lead up
to a centrally located, large
wood and glass front entry door. The front façade additionally
features a hipped roof dormer with multi-paned, tripartite windows.
Two hipped dormers adorn both the east and west facades. The
building further features symmetrical rows of metal sash windows
with decorative shutters, enclosed eaves, and a shed-roof loading
dock on the east façade.
Originally an L-shaped building, several additions were
added in 1996. The building was expanded to the south and slightly
to the east. The original front (south) façade had a full-width
front porch, and it appears that recent construction has maintained
that porch.
