Overholser, a barber, was living and working out of the tiny building. Reginald moved his barber shop to 1209 N. Nettleton by 1936. In 1940, confectioner Arthur Doyle had purchased the building and associated house at 2227 W. Boone from the Cota Estate. In that same year, Doyle opened Doyle's Ice Cream. Doyle's Ice Cream operated continuously from this building through the 1970s.
